Summer news 2010

Last week the Swedish surfski championship took place between Arkösund and Oxelösund. We had three marathon/sprint paddlers in our Fusions: Jacob Holst, Per Holst and Danny Hallmen. During the week before the race they were training in their skis in Vaxholm to get used to the new boat and to train in the conditions the boat are made for – big waves, which in Vaxholm means ferry waves. It was great fun to see that they enjoyed the skis and the opportunity it gave them to play in the waves and still be able to paddle really fast! After some speed testing against K1 kayaks, Per in Fusion and Jacob in his K1 they were surprised that such a stabile kayak could go so fast. Actually Jacob was beaten buy Per in the Fusion two times in a row!

Three Fusions in Vaxholm

For the surfski race Jacob was the one with the best chances for a high position in the result list if conditions was right for him. But this year the Swedish champs actually become a real surfski race. Day before the race it was blowing 15 m/s from south and the waves were up to three meters high. On the race day the wind dropped and turned more to west, meaning offshore waves from the side and oceans swells to surf from the back. Jacob was up in the top right behind the leader for the first 1/3 of the race following his plan, but when it come to the downwind section of 15 km open water it was clear that the guys with more surfski experience and surf skills could go faster with less effort. A frustrated Jacob reached the finish line 10 minutes after the winner Tommy Karls, in position 8. Total we had four Fusion competing and they were all satisfied with how the boat performed, especially with the little extra stability the boat gave them in the really rough water.

Think we might see Jacob and the other guys show up in a surfski race again; you can count on that they will be better prepared now that they know what´s all about.

During the spring we made a small improvement on the Fusion mould, which unfortunately caused delays in the deliveries. Production is up to speed again and there will be no problems meeting the demand during the autumn.

Right now we have a couple of Rapidos in stock. This boat has been very well reviewed from our customers for its performance in waves and combination of speed and stability! We also have two Rocket+ with small damage from transport that will be sold to a lower price. Call for details.
